Teeth-In-An-Hour™

Immediate-Function Dental Implants

It is often possible to place dental implants and then put those implants into immediate function.  TEETH-IN-AN-HOUR™ is a revolutionary concept that can provide patients with fully functioning teeth on dental implants in a single procedure. This technology was developed by Nobel Biocare and requires collaboration between both the restorative doctor and the oral surgeon. This merging of knowledge and experience achieves not only increased safety, but also a more precise implant placement through computer-guided surgery.

Immediate Dental Function, But There Is A Process

It is important to understand that the term “teeth in and hour” does not reflect the diagnostic examination and preparation necessary to achieve the result. The process starts when a CAT scan is taken of the patient’s jawbone. This CAT scan allows for the generation of a “three-dimensional model of the jawbone that can then be used in virtual reality software to plan the implant placement without the presence of the patient. The results are more accurate implant placement and less chair time for the patient at the surgery office. The benefits of guided surgery are that there can be less postoperative discomfort, less swelling and less bruising.

Occasionally, patients require the replacement of a tooth in an area of great aesthetic concern with an immediate implant-supported functional restoration. Many patients can be treated with the immediate placement of dental implants and functional restorations. In both this technique and the guided surgical techniques, implants placed are usually restored with interim restorations that allow patients to return to function immediately. Final restorations are then placed on these implants at a later date.

How Much Do Teeth-In-An-Hour™ Cost?

Immediate-function restorations of dental implant techniques have different indications, benefits, risks and costs that depend on the specific circumstances of each patient. After an examination and consultation, Dr. Maranon can recommend which technique is best suited for each patient.
